Not because there is anything wrong with them but because they are a "Corolla" reliable and well made but I prefer a more refined driving experience like a "Bentley"

Please before you flame me.....I don't hate Tikka's they are very good, just not tor me
With a carbon stock and barrel? So what would you consider a $3.5K off the shelf "Bentley"?
Experience. What you get just after you needed it.

Bentleys aren't made out of carbon fiber... It's not the be all and end all of quality construction...

I think the really expensive ones are. Makes them lighter.
The one in the OP looks like a Southfort carbon stock. I had one on my 7mmRM and didn't like it either but some people seem to get along with them ok.

Plenty of nicer or better quality rifles around for $3.5k go have a look for yourself I never said carbon stocked and carbon barreled.
I'm not gonna search around for something I have no intention of buying. You can get a lot of rifle for that sort of money.

Yeah you can, but my point is if you do want a carbon stock and barrel you will be hard pressed to find anything new for $3.6K with a better action/trigger than a Tikka. As MB pointed out, a Carbonlite is $6K.

personally I would never think of dropping that sort of money at gun City. My local store is basically a bunch of sales reps who have limited knowledge of what they are dealing with.
I've corrected them than once on things.
Start looking at smaller gun shops where they do smithing. They can offer some supprisingly good deals on refurbished rifles of good quality. Tend to know what they are on about and have tested the stuff they work on. Some have good import contacts and can bring in great guns at good prices.
my view though. each to their own.

nothing wrong with tikka if you want a light workhorse I cant see the benifit of spending big money on them, plenty of sakos on trademe for less than what they are asking including a pretty nice 308 s20

kimbers pop up all the time and dont tend to sell, patience is the key. Id have more if I had more disposable income but Iv passed on at least 5 montanas under 2k this year alone

the other thing is theres a lot of eyes here looking if you have got in mind what you want just make it known and someone will give you a quiet PM clueing you into where one is
