Just buy a kimber hunter and pocket 2 grand. Pull the goop out the stock and go shoot shit
The tikka is not bad value, as you couldn't build it for that. I would question the barrel make and smiting though if its a gun city custom.
Plus with a (superior) model 7 you get a drop box max not a silly plastic mag you have to take out and load bullets into. You also get at true short action not a long action with a short bolt stop. Model 7's really are underrated in this country.
I still own my .308 Model 7, 16.5" barrel, DPT can, Swaro 3-9x33 scope, talley ultra low rings..... Can't be beat.
sorry @Bill999 but I have already cleaned it off . It looked like a group of small fine scratches in the finish that had gone brown rust colour but a bit of polish took them off .
born to hunt - forced to work
There you go @MB .

3.4kg with a suppressor, 540gram scope, and heavy optilock rings.
Put a lightweight scope on it, ditch the optilocks for a ligther weight option (or not won't make a lot of difference).
You wouldn't do better than this with a Kimber or any of the other options.
With the barrel life of a .308 a few hundred rounds is just finished breaking the thing it for you.
If you don't like it I'll straight swap you for my Kimber hunter in .308 which I think is just on 3kg with scope, suppressor and everything.

to the original question..
in .308 it looks like a nice handy hunting rifle, especially for deer staking in the bush.
if i could have confidence it was a functional & quality build.. and it ticked all my boxes then i'd go for it - it'd be a breath of fresh air compared to my 40yr old rifle that has to perform all duties.
in saying that i won't spend that kind of money on a hunting rifle that's a big indulgence, especially when there's still a decent scope etc. to go on.
For me personally, i'd feel more comfortable spending the money on gas & hunting more.
but there are guys out there who can put enough meat in the freezer to justify it & plenty of guys out there who have the spare cash to treat themselves & plenty of guys who consider guns a hobby & that's all good too.
lifes short, do what makes ya happy.
but dang you for dangling that in front of me!! now i'll be thinking of that when i drag the ol musket out of it's case before dawn tomorrow & begin my long slow trek up the bush.

Or build your own:
New barrelled action:
https://www.trademe.co.nz/sports/hun...3751976628.htm
Chuck it in a 520g hi-tech mini stock:

and you still have $1500 left over to accessorise (cerakote, chop and suppress, scope and mounts etc.)
