What kind of metal finish is this? And how do I fix it?

This is my Akkar trap gun, I bought it second hand and the metalwork finish was already like this. It's meant to be gold but I'm guessing someone used some kind of solvent on it an ruined it.

Anyone know how to get the rest off and what to replace it with?

You could try put a tiny bit of autosol on a bit of cloth over an area that is less obvious to see and rub gently. If you like what you see after polishing then go to town - Should polish out those blotches in the finish.

Are these meant to be a brass platted finish?

Year I think @223nut idea is the best. Trying to get that finish replicated is going to be rather hard

I threw a few small parts in the tumbler for a couple of hours and it seems to have done the job, looks to have taken it back to a chrome finish. I'd put the rest in but I'm not keen to strip the action. I think I'll mask the wood and try a buffer wheel.

I know it's a cheap shotgun but it seems to shoot bloody well so have no intention to replace it.

If its like mine it originally looked like colour case hardening it now looks like stainless. Still shoots like a train though why spend $12,000 plus on a flash as perazzi with proper case hardening when you can go A grade with one of these or heaven forbid a lanber!
