What scope - Burris Signature HD vs Leupold VX freedom vs Other?

Hi team. Looking for advice on optics.

    Rifle - Tikka T3 Alpine 6.5mm Creedmoor (2nd hand)
    Target - Deer
Distance - NI Bush primarily =short range - but need flexibility for bush edge longer shots, and who knows I might be able to wrangle the very occasional SI trips for deer/Tahr/Chamois so ideally some flexibility for longer range as I will only have one rifle and one scope (famous last words I know...). I haven't shot a rifle for a while (20+ years!) so I don't have max comfortable distance but I'm imaging a max maybe 3-400m in time.

    I'm looking at:
    1. Leupold VX-Freedom 4-12x40 Creedmoor Scope $749
    2. Burris Droptine 4.5-14x42 mm $700
    3. Burris Fullfield IV 3-12x42 Ballistic E3 Scope $699 or 2.5-10X42 for $499
    4. Burris Signature HD 3-15x44 $999

I was originally thinking a 2-10 power but there aren't many options.

Of those I'm leaning toward the Burris Signature given the magnification range seems to offer the most flexibility as well as lowest mag at bottom end for in the bush, though my wife is aware I'm shopping and had an allergic reaction to spending $1K. I had a look through one and liked it but also didn't mind the Fullfield IV 2.5-10X42 at half the price.

    Thoughts based on experience?

    Thanks
    Dave

If you can get the Burris HD for $900 grab it they are awesome scopes.
After a while of shooting the Creedmoor you will want to dialing for longer shots as it's a very capable caliber.
That scope is perfect for that caliber.
The others are ok but the HD model is better.

I have a near mint Burris fulfield II 3-9x40 to sell that would do your NI bush plus longer shots very well. Nice clear optics, very reliable model, and good price. As a longterm northern bush shooter previously I can confirm you do not need expensive high end, high magnification scopes - at all. A 3-9x40 perfect. This scope is a gem - about $549 or so new now, but can have it for $250. PM me if interested

Imo the burris signature 3-15 is great for price etc, good glass, but heavy and bulky. They have a 2-10 HD that night suit your needs better!

I would have said that the Burris Signature will have much better glass and crisper click adjustments that a VX freedom any day.
They are quite a differant scope however from each other, the Burris will generally be a heavier scope with larger diameter lenses compaired to the Leupolds in the VX, VX1, VX2 ranges.

I was surprised at how clear the vx freedom was, way better than the old vx1s

vxfreedom 3x9x40mm would be my pick all day long...absolutely hated a 4x12 leupold on bush rifle and yet are more than happy with fixed four power in same use...
and also if your 99% bush dont over look something smaller like a 1x5 or 2x7 the bottom end is just primo, and a deer at 300 is still well doable but a 50lb pig is plurry small on 4x lol

Im runnng an Element Helix HDLR 2-16 X 50, and rate it highly, perfect mag range for NI conditions. There a bit above your price range, although I did see a couple for sale on here recently. The Buy, sell swap page on here is definately worth a look.

Just my 2 penny's worth. I have both the Burris scopes you mention, one on a 6.5 cm and one on a 7mm rem mag. I did a tracking test on both and few others and they were both spot on, The HD signature wins out by about 3 minutes over the Fullfield for light gathering in the evening but it's a lot heavier as well ( It's got the illuminated reticle).

The Burris signature punches well above its price point. I personally compare them spec and quality wise to the VX5hd range in the Leupolds. I had a VX5 and the Signature at the same time and ended up selling the VX5, then foolishly let the Signature go to someone else which I've regretted.
