Well my vx3i 3.5-10 works as it should on my kimber 308, after many years of bush bashing. The only failure I got was from talley scope mounts in aluminium that splitted in half. I replaced the whole mounting system with leupold steel bases and rings and never looked back.
My vx3 4.5x14 has been to fiordland during ten days of hard going, where the rifle was used as a walking stick so much that there was no butt pad left on the carbon stock .on the last day, I got challenged by my mates to shoot a spot of about 5” diameter on a big rock at 635m. And got it on the first cold bore shot.
And that rifle has been on previous trips in kaimanawa and South Island for thar shooting without missing a beat. ( rem7 in 7saum).
Maybe I got lucky and got the best leupold scopes of the batch. But actually , I don’t think so, there are so many leupolds sold worldwide and set up on rifles that work so flawlessly .
On the other hand, I have two mates of mine in Europe who are professional hunting guides, one got a flash Leica that lasted only one year before completing craping out ( rubber illumination button cracking, scope not holding zero) and the other one had a top of the line zeiss, and the side focus/ illumination cap completely fell out in the middle of a driven hunt.
