It's plenty of gun for anything in NZ
But likely a decent heavy unit and more suited to a larger target so you don't need a lot of magnification

Eye relief is going to be a huge consideration and a scopes ability to handle repeated heavy recoil

Personally I would go with a VX2c 2-7 or VXiii 2.5-8. Both hard to break
I have a VXiii 1.75-6 E for just this type of rifle when I find what I'm after

It's a backup to a .375 H&H and just a caliber I am interested in mucking around with. Most likely it will be a heavy goat slayer with the odd pig and deer thrown in. Could see limited use on an overseas hunt. Mostly out to 200 yds but might sometimes attempt longer shots if load development goes well. Yes, eye relief, recoil proof and cost are all important. Now I'm also thinking top end magnification of 8X probably works better for just a little more shot placement assistance than 6X. Thanks for your comments.
