Thread: What are some of the smoothest bolt actions you have handled?

I'll start off.

Tikka T3 - Clearly the smoothest I have ever handled.
Marlin X7 - 2nd smoothest out of the many rifles I've handled. A real surprise as it was the cheapest.
Browning A-Bolt - Only slightly behind the two above, beats everything else. The action feels more like a "real gun", as opposed to the Tikka and Marlin which can feel a bit like toys.

Remington 700 - Middle of the road.
Howa Mini - Middle of the road.

Ruger Hawkeye - Clunkier than average.

CZ527 - The worst. (By no means a bad rifle)

Sakos of all shapes and sizes how ever I think my latest in short action was smoother than my other long actions

Rems iv felt amazing ones and then the sloopier ones people speak off

I handled alot of older rifles as a kid I'd say were great but couldn't honestly remember the likes of BSAs etc

I'd like to here from people who have handles Forbes and kimbers see where they fit in I'm pretty vanilla owning mostly sakos and tikkas

Likewise, even for a lefty it’s smooth and fast.
Just that when in a real hurry I can end up with a blood blister on the outside edge of my left hand from the bolt pinching it against the rear of the action.

Early Sako L461 actions are ultra smooth.

Krag Jørgensen has the smoothest.

Kimber's arnt that smooth with the CRF claw design
Well used sakos always tend to be the smoothest I find, my 75 is slick
Helps to have a caliber that feeds well

My M12 Mauser makes the rest feel like their bolts are wrapped in sandpaper and dipped in golden syrup. And the trigger makes the rest feel like PTO hitches on an old Fergie.

Although thin on the ground now, the Husky 1900 action would not be beaten for silky smooth.Eats my rear locker Schultz and Larsen for greased lightning.The steep cocking cam angle on the S&L requires a bit of moxy to lift the bolt

Lee, krag, huski m38. A Cock on closing always feels smoother.

sob sob sob....post 64 push fed winchester model 70 lightweight.....hours spent in front of telly working bolt helped smooth it out even more...new howa 1500 isnt bad,hopefully will smooth up even more,feeds from mag very well.

you all need to try Sauer 202 super smooth!!!
