If you've got an open chequebook leave it in the safe and buy another.
Just because it's not getting used now doesn't mean it won't get used in the future.
Overkill is still dead.
Greetings @Missalot,
It appears that you have most serious shooting bases covered with your two main rifles so what may wish to consider is a "Just walking around rifle". Most rifle people of a certain age will have at least one of these which gets taken on walks in the bush without much intention of making any loud noises or carrying anything heavy. The rifle needs to be reasonably light and portable but still capable of taking a deer or other game out to 200 metres or so if you really want to. As a Super Gold Card holder with almost a decade of experience I have accumulated several of these but the current favourite by a narrow margin is a Bergara single shot in .308 with a 1.5 to 5 power scope lent to me by a friend. Perhaps a little heavy but short even with a suppressor and I can take it down and stuff it in my pack if I get tired of carrying it. While mine is scoped it could easily be fitted with aperture sights. If you are willing to sell the T3 then there are many more options open to you.
Regards Grandpamac.
What about something small and efficient like 6x45 or 6mm 204/222rem mag.
Once I have finished my 6.5 Grendel build I will be researching the 25 SPC.
Plenty of good ideas… 358w has me interested Micky. Do you just neck up 308 brass for that one?
My cunning idea was to chuck a 7 or 8 twist 20inch 243 barrel on, slightly heavier than a tikka contour. I’ve got a spare hardy stealth suppressor and krg chassis sitting unused so I reckon all of them put together would make a reasonably heavy but not annoying truck gun for farm hunting..
Grandpamac - had thought of making a lightweight walkabout gun but I’ve got a 7x57 that fits that gap nicely, light recoiling and will flatten anything inside 200m
Sounds like youve got all bases covered except for something crazy and totally impractical for anything
What caliber is your t3 currently?
nah I still think ya all way of mark this man has base covered now target practice a really good .22 to practice with or even a good air rifle for practice - something he can use - not a safe queen or an obscure caliber to be dragged out occasionally -
WHATS that you say????? I cant hear you with my fingers jammed in ears...
75/15/10 black powder matters
Hard to shoot with both fingers in my ears too!
