    the photo is a bit small, but looks like it could be a bore cleaning guide for your cleaning rod ? more common with M4 rifles.

    Stick a bit of 4x2 in the slot and clean the chamber
    Real guns start with the number 3 or bigger and make two holes, one in and one out

    sweet thanks it would work in the 243 as well then didnt think it was a bore guide as its threaded on one end
