Oehler or Magnetospeed, personally I would go with Magnetospeed for ease of use

Kiwigreg should have comments about both

    Sweet cheers EBF
One thing is we shoot from various uneven surfaces so a pretty adaptable stand/ tripod system would be good.
Looking forward to getting some loads measured

Puffin posted a sweet mod to make a $ 200 F1 shooting chrony more consistent, worth looking at.

Don't know anything about the magneto speed but the Ohler would be the top of the line optical sensor chrony.

Mate and I have each just gone MagnetoSpeed. He got sick of his 35P not always triggering (bright sunny days, and some types projectiles) and I with a CED with IR screens - much the same issues. Extremely pleased with the MagnetoSpeed.

Is the magneto speed the barrel mounted one? Wouldn't the muzzle blast fuck them up??

you"may" have to shoot for speeds and groups separately with a weight hanging on the end of the barrel for speed readings.

Yeah good point. I really have no idea about this shit. Just want a good consistent reading.
Makes no sense if you cant shoot groups at the same time though

Shipping on the complete 35P package you linked is absurd. I ended up getting my one locally for about $1100 from memory which was heaps cheaper than what it was going to cost to import.

It's a good system but there is no way you will get one new for $700 or less.

The reality is a chrony only gives you enough information to get started.
All other data should be collected by verification shooting.
Look at the vortex optics website and watch their verification videos as it will get you on the right track

    I have a 35p and a pro chrono.
I taped my pro chrono to the 35 in between the first two sensors and they were on average 4fps different in their reading.
Hence the 35 stays home as a bit more time to set up than the pro chrono
