Less than 3kg ready to go is a very nice weight, especially with a suppressor. That doesn't include a bipod as they cock up the balance etc.

    Agreed.

I have a severely modified Savage that ended up at 3.1kg (scoped and with a DPT can) - it is fun to carry

And it is a long action as well, so would probably go around 3.0 kg or less in short action.

110 action, in a factory older Savage plastic stock - the version with internal mag. used to have a 270 barrel on it, but I cut my original 7-08 factory barrel to 14, and re-profiled it to a pencil (0.625).

Leupy VX3 3.5-10 CDS with Aluminas on top.

Scope & caps probably 400 grams. DPT can is 200 grams, so bare rifle would be 2.5 kg

It is nicely balanced as well. Quite a few of the ultralight rifles I've handled are seriously unbalanced.

Got a metal lathe at home, so did it myself. Took measurements off my AR15 carbine barrel and left a bit of a safety margin.

Did wear a welding mask for the first couple of test shots though

I'll post pics in the morning. Accuracy with 162 Amax went to shit. Ended up trying a bunch of different projectiles and now use 120 Pro Hunters. Golf ball sized groups at 100 yds, and enough energy to happily shoot deer out to 400yds.

That would erk me. The old 6.5x47 made me a picky prick with groups even though i know its not really needed. very cool project tho.
