The estimates for an ok condition vz 33 is 550 from the last antiques Arms auction.
Is this right? I see there's a carvells auction coming up.
Cheers

Being a British and Commonwealth collector, I do not have any but have noted the usual regrettable trend that the bones of those who lost generally fetch more than the victors....Sigh.
"Things " which greatly affect a sale price range without even looking at the condition, are:
1...The provenance. https://tinyurl.com/z3mxzjb
2...The markings.... Nazi markings, especially the SS Units boost the "value."
3...Whose weapon was it, German, Polish, Russian, Israeli, Yugoslavian, France, Norway, Spain, Sweden, etc ...There is a long list...... https://tinyurl.com/y5o7apff
4... AND finally, how many bidders "MUST HAVE IT".
.
I want a shooter that I can shoot a deer with. As much as I'd love an eagle or mum it is only a historical image that can be swept away as easily as the words m1 carbine inland were. Sad. Yeah that's more than I want to spend on a rifle that'd get occasional use around the bush or range.
Different one. Ted Rogers runs them out of Wellington.

Next one is April 2020
Remember the all up cost on a won price of $1000 will be $1165.25 (inc Buyer prem, gst on that and $10 entry) and if out of town costs for travelling, accommodation, refreshments etc. Be aware that postal voters have overpaid on unseen stuff which in my view had been crap in more than a few instances - best to view in person. There's a reason why the good stuff fetch a higher price and the collector crowd are well clued up.
Old Sporter versions go cheap if you just want a plinker and hunter.

Why bother with a millitary mauser if you want a shooter, especially on a budget?
Why not a mauser clone, by the likes of BSA or Brno, or even Husqvarna? Can be had under $1200. Claw extractors, solid build, all steel, and on par with the best mausers functionality wise.
Unless you really want a millitary gun?
Some companies like Sako and Cz make full size stocks in a range of calibres.
Are you looking at using iron sights if you go down the milsurp track?
K98 iron sights and actually mausers in general (Ive got to include the Swedes) Ive got to say, suck. Although some people may disagree with me.
A mismatching numbers full stock No 4 would probably tick more of the boxes overall.
A nice P14 with full wood would also be a great rifle to be considered?
