Thread: Where to get an action and barrel from

Looking at getting a new barrel and action to start a new gun but don't know where to get one from any ideas guys

What do you want to build Luke and how much do you want to spend? Theres brand new barnard actions for around $1500, or you could go second hand rem 700 although sometimes they too are pretty pricey just for an action. Another good option would be to buy a new or secondhand Howa 1500 and rebarrel it.

Was thinking howa just not to sure we're to get one from

Send @Kiwi Greg a pm with some ideas on what you want to achieve with said rifle and I am sure you will get good advice Luke.

You want to think what you want to do with the rifle and go from there not get one first then think what can I do with it.

Keep an eye out on trademe or even on here the odd one pops up on the buy sell section, only thing is they seem hard to find aftermarket stocks etc for but when theres a will theres a way!

most rifles will do that. Like VC says give it some thought as having a rifle made this way gives you a chance to get what you want.
I'm just waiting for a new toy now. Is something a bit different from the usual super duper long range thingy ma jigs you normally see people buying (FWIW I ended up buying a remington m700 rifle to raid the action from and for now the stock).

the bad news is factory rifles generally work out to be more cost effective to buy

There is a very sweet 6.5 in the forsale section. I would probably buy that

If just to shoot a lot of goats with, something cheap that shoots cheap factory ammo like 223, 7.62x39 would be the go I recon.

If wanting to stretch the range on animals and gongs then you need more horsepower obviously.

I've got a 223 but dosent queit reach out as far as I'd like it to and I've got the 6.5AI but just want something different

Try Gunworks, pretty sur they were selling Howa barreled actions a while back.
