My understanding was that while they did use Hardy's sound equipment and testing facilities only Rod and Rifle staff where involved with the testing and recording of data.
I will defend my decisions as to what gear I use and as the OP noted I wanted to give some support to the Hardy Cans

Fair enough. I never really paid much attention to some of the there reports in the mags either. And my quarrel is not with the product. We all have the right to spend our hard earned how we want and I will not hold it against someone for buying something that I would not. We each have our own preferences and priorities. If he had repaired my suppressor (at my cost) or even simply told me how to remedy the issues, then I would have walked away happy.

Maybe he has improved his service, and I expect / hope others have had better experiences. I hope so as there seem to be a lot of Hardy cans about. I cannot really comment on what others have experienced (better or worse) as I can only comment on what I have experienced.

Have you heard the term 'vested interest' ? Of course people will say whatever it is that they happen to be selling is the best, they have a vested interest, ie you buy it from them, they make money ;-)

I have many times experienced high quality service from DPT. An exceptional bunch of guys. The European machinist (I forget his name) should write the book on customer service. He's the gold standard!

Interesting test, I know this is more than a bit sad on Saturday to be doing Excel but I graphed the results. I consider weight vs sound reduction to be a good measure of performance so that's what I graphed. In a hunting rifle you want to get as much DB reduction for your added weight. The next would be durability (the next test they should have performed). Not much point in a light suppressor with good sound reduction if it goes bang after a few hundred rounds. Although some hunting rifles will never fire that many rounds.
Sorry I had to hack up the graph to make it up-loadable. Basically the labels work like this- no 1 is at the top of the list ie numbers 1 and 3=A-Tec 10= DPT 14= Hardy 25,26=ODL. These all put in great showings for weight vs dB reduction. For their weight the ODLs are amazing.

I had a Hardy AR suppressor on my 20" which I paid quite a bit for. A first Gen DPT on my mates 14.5" carbine was significantly quieter to the point we had to use ear protection for the first and not for the latter. I run a second hand DPT on my 308 and he's a absolute pleasure to deal with and will be getting more of my money.

Sorry Mr hardy based on this and other experiences with ARs I've heard of personally I won't be spending any more money with him.

fired 998 rounds through my 6.5mm dpt in less than 2 years and only given it a brush through and still going great. Way more than that in the 223 dpt.

On a mates rifle the Hardy's blew up and sent part of the suppressor back into his stock doing significant damage. Hardy didn't want a bar of it. In the end to get his money for the stock he had an independent engineer inspect it and said the thread holding the suppressor together was far too short and it was a inadequate design.
Heard of another couple crapping including one guy who had 2 bulge on his 7mm rem mag.
I currently have a gunworks that split but was fixed no questions asked. A lot of people I know have dpts including myself and have had no issues.

NEVER MIND I FOUND THE ARTICLE

I used my dpt on a 308 for f class. Generally 3 strings of 12. Also have some mighty bombs up on the farm gongs, easily in exec chess of 30 slow fire and it gets frigging hot. I did put in a stainless baffle, which I think is more to slow erosion.
It’s probably not clever on my part but it’s such a pleasure to shoot.
This thread is the first I’ve heard of dpt blowups so for forgive me for being sceptical without photos. Certainly possible I’m sure.

Pretty sure Hardy failures were the problem here not DPT
