    Winchester 1895 in .303

    Here's a Winchester 1895 in .303 i picked up at the last Carvell's Auction.

Absolutely love it , can't get enough of shooting it.

Funnily enough it was home guard issued , and the name V.W ARDELL is carved into the stock.

It shoots awesome with 150gr SnB Softpoints , both these goats were taken at about 150m.

Nice rifle, i hope you dried and oiled it properly after that. The aperture sight will elevate it to a new level accuracy wise over the original tangent sights.

Winchester made a lot of these in 7.62x54R for the Czar, see image below with a Mosin clip.
@Masperjay, does yours accept .303 stripper clips?

No, from memory only the military models in 54R had stripper clip guides. This is a Sporter.

How well did they install the 303 barrel on that saddle carbine? Feed & shoot ok?

Yet another reason to thank John Browning, a total genius and so far ahead of his time.

Feeds and shoots well, handguard is a little loose. I have been looking for original parts to restore it.
