Nice rifle. I’ve got Winchester big bores in 356 (basically the rarer 35 cal version of 307) and 375 Winchester Big Bore. I used to have a 307 as well but sold it as it was not quite collector grade - I’ll buy another one day.

Just to expand/confirm above posts - a 307 is simply a 308 with a semi rimmed case - it is reloaded with actual 308 dies and a 30/30 shell holder. Ditto a 356 being loaded with 358 dies.

The Big Bore action was designed to handle higher pressure - but be sensible - work up to 2 or 3 grains under standard 308 loads max. It was not designed for super crazy hot loads and nor is the gun a real long ranger (although using Hornady FTX projectiles will help with that)

Brass is obviously hard to come by. It may still be on the occasional production list by Winchester but I doubt it. Try Bertram brass. If not (1) it can be formed from 444 Marlin if you can source it (plenty on Google on this) but an intermediate die (e.g. 356/358 Winchester) will generally be required; or (2) given the only difference is the rim I have heard of some people successfully cycling 308 cases through a 307 - if you go down that route I would not exceed 308 starting loads and be careful...

Round or flat or Hornady Flexi tip (FTX) projectiles only given the tube mag...

    Hope that helps.
