I fell in love with the White Gold version a while back...never did get to scratch that itch.
Looking forward to reading X bolt opinions..... good question
The old A bolt was a better rifle imo. But either one ain’t great if you want to tart it up to improve performance. Better off with REM, Tikka, Sako or Howa, Weatherby
A mate had one and at two years of age she looked like Russian princess who has hit that ‘headscarf’ age. He was hard on his gear though but it did make me wonder about the coatings of the rifle.
Mine looked new after the same amount of time, it was smooth, accurate and durable. I recommend them.

I have A bolt in 280 and xbolt in 708. have owned a 270wsm xbolt also.
Stock shape is great.Syn stocks nice and grippy.Bolt smoothness great. 2 position safety and ability to unlock a cocked bolt with safety on os great.
Trigger adjusts down to 3lb. Get a new spring from M Carbo.com for 15$ and its mint
I like the magazines.
Heck i love these guns.
I have owned all these rifle at some time over the past 8 years and all worked as designed. I have bought and sold rifles for no other reason that I can !
Currently running X-Bolt in .308 WIN and put in a McCarbo trigger spring which has helped me shoot better.
Did it "improve the performance" of the rifle ?
The answer is NO !!
The performance of a rifle is a subjective concept - like an opinion.
An objective perspective is one that is not influenced by emotions, opinions, or personal feelings - it is a perspective based in fact, in things quantifiable and measurable. A subjective perspective is one open to greater interpretation based on personal feeling, emotion, aesthetics, etc.
Stay loyal to the model 7 :P
Had one in 7mm rem mag, very accurate and like others said, mcarbo spring helps
First one I had was a dream until I broke it. Second one was shit from the start. First one had a barrel channel that looked hand carved by a carpenter. Second one looked like it was made by a beaver. First stock was floated and straight. Second stock was bent. Both were 7mm08 walnut and SS.
Do the Xbolts have a longer mag box?
I had an Abolt for years and really liked it but the short mag box i found annoying once i started reloading.
Had the older SS a bolt on 270 and despite the calibre it was a great rifle. Preferred it to my friends xbolt personally
Mate just bought a xbolt in 7m 08, It shot great straight out of the box. Was impressive to say the least. Nice action, i liked it. He could shoot the eye out of a hare with it at 100yards if he wanted.
Mag i liked, would consider one myself. Half cock and safety seemed real good as well, very nice
Ok second question then. What's one worth second hand. Has had about 40 sounds through it. Stock has a reasonable amount of scuffs and scratches on the soft per layer of the stock. Minox zl3 scope.
Buying off a mate and trying to get a fair deal for all
1000-1200. stainless synth. I have same scope on a wood blued in 708- short barrel and ASE suppresor, love it.
A bare rifle about 1000 tops as they are $1400 New and scope depends on age condition etc

Im onto my 2nd. Great rifles and apart from the trigger hard to fault. The first one I replaced the trigger spring with a cut off biro spring and that worked well. That was a micro model in wood blue in 243 and was a laser and I shot a 100 or so deer with it. Someone on the forum is enjoying it now. This latest one is a 270wsm. I put a Carbo spring in and cut the barrel to 22". And added a carbon stock. it works a treat. Like the first, very accurate.
Its a personal thing I know, but the xbolt and Sako A7 are both under rated.
Yea they can certainly shoot. Factory white tail ammo. Hope to be better once suppressor is fitted. Attachment 113024
Xbolts are bloody brilliant I've got a 300wsm and @ tahrs 243 micro which my 5 year old boy uses.Don't worry @ tahr shes in good hands and has another 20 odd deer to her name.
Cheers
