Ive just picked up a Marlin XT-22 Youth 22lr off trademe, paid $292, pretty happy with that. Has a 7 round mag and the single shot mag/follower thingy. Can also put the full size stock on it when the kids get bigger.
My 4 year old is obviously far too little to properly hold my Marlin 25n and really struggled (prone) just to hold it and reach trigger etc, so am looking forward to seeing how she goes with this. Great to get them out with you just to start teaching them about firearm safety etc and make them feel part of it.

1 I dont do well shooting groups in low light and it was very dim this morning. My eyes get tired quikly and I struggle to focus.
2 The cross hair is about three times the thickness of the dot at 57 yards.
3 its hard to be consistant with a tiny rifle that is way to small for me.
4 generally it is best to fire at least 10 rounds of each ammo before shooting a group due to differnt lubes and powders etc but i didnt... I just shot 5 of one then 5 of the next.

42 gr powerpoint went ok. I dont think i shot as well as I could/should have here tho.
40gr aussi power point is the stand out star in this test and i pulled one shot.
Mag tec was just ok but I didnt shoot well either.
Pmc match was very bad as was fedral game shock.
Cci quick shock was ok.
Not on target are fedral bulk pack which actually shot pretty well surprisingly.
And i took cci subsoninic but forgot to shoot it for some reason.
