I liked the metering quality and the space for projectiles. I wasn't going for excessive velocity, being a dial up hunting rifle for ranges out to 6-700, what's the point with excess velocity?
I'm pretty sure I made a mistake with my bro's crappy powder scales (they are Lyman and if you've had anything to do with this particular model you'll know why) I was working up a load over the chrony and was sitting at 2950fps for a 165gr pill. My bro tried the next load and it blew with 3350fps registering on the chrony.
A real good wake-up call. I was just glad Ben was ok and the Mauser's third bolt lug, gas vents and eye shield did their job.
