    124 Hammer vs Red Hind

I've been slowly pushing the .260 out to see how my new scope and projectile combination would go. An opportunity presented itself for a 415 yard shot on a fawn less hind recently.

I was impressed with the results and these projectiles sure do leave an awesome vapour trail.

It's easy to shoot these things, but the recovery and walk back in the rain wasn't as enjoyable. :-)

I'd decided to shoot a few hinds in this area as there are miles to many.

Nice shot. The vapour coming off that bullet was amazing.

Nice. What MV is it doing?
I shot a large body stag with my 143 @240 yards last week and was very impressed with performance. No exit apart from 2 petals. MV 3180fps

Did you get the classic shank punching right through and a cluster of petal holes around the exit @craigc?

I shot a fallow hind last week with a 109 grain Absolute Hammer that had exactly that sort of result.

The 69 Absolutes out of my 22" 6CM thermal rifle are absolutely devastating out to 375-400 yards....might have something to do with the 3915 fps muzzle velocity

It started to rain just as I got to the deer and it was getting dark. I didn’t f around with anything other than grabbing the back steaks and the rear legs!

In very high humidity often just as it starts raining the Sonic boom of the bullet compressing the air and it's subsequent expansion results in the water vapor condensing. It's most spectacular with a charge of large shot over a pond in the morning or evening
