1st Kaimai Deer

Well I haven't been out for a hunt since my last deer. More than a few weeks ago now, Been super busy in the shed, Tidying up jobs and projects.
Also got t-boned at an intersection in my car the other week, Shit happens. Sorted a car for during the week but no weekend transport.
Anyway after a hard day at work yesterday I decided last night I was going hunting. Got hold of Rusky to see what he was up to, Then got hold of a mate to see if he wanted to go = free ride to the bush haha.

We headed to the kaimais about half one, Got to the top by 2.30pm Then went bush from there. Only an hour into it, We found some fresh sign and slowed rite down. Wind in face, Following a game trail, A red hind come trotting towards me, Seen me, Hit the picks, Looked at me just long enough to raise the rifle close the bolt and squeeze off a round into her neck. She dropped on the spot, Clean kill. Gutted her, Made her into a pack and carried out. Meet up with Rusky on way out to, Was an awesome afternoon out.

Welll deserved. It had to happen eventually.

Good on ya mate, hopefully I can pull of the same thing for my first deer next weekend when I head off to clements mill road for a night or two.

Cheer's Guys ! :thumbsup: My storey was probably a bit vague, Just reread it and it makes it sound a bit easy :D What can I say, I had luck on my side I guess, Move slow, Few paces then stop, Kept the wind in our face, as little noise from us as possible, Just wait and listen, Move a bit more .. There was a lot of yeah ha's and woo hoo's thrown in there after too haha plus sore shoulders from the carry out (not used to the 80 extra pounds on my back), So stoked though, Really really happy, Love the bush hunting, You cant beat getting so close to an animal in there.

Yeah mate, Done more than a "few to many" trips into the kaimais. A lot I have learned and a lot of learning still to be done.

We all do starting out. It was a year between first stepping foot on public land with a rifle and me getting my first. Every second of it was time well spent. It is true what they say though, it's a lot easier from now on! The freezer is in much better shape this year than it was last.

As long as my car is back before the end of this week as it is having its cylinder head replaced it will be all go, if it is not back by the end of the week then it will be off to the range to shoot some paper

Boned out the hind yesterday and found the projectile in the rear leg
