Why don't you use the 6mm cm?

Very nice, thanks for sharing! I have the same experience as you with my 6XC. These 6mm are surprisingly nice to shoot & effective.

Zero at 100m, drop tests at 270, 345 and 475m. All calculations had the same answer, same as the chronograph. So yeah, it’s correct. So far, dialling MRAD, it’s been bang on out to 500ish.

Because the rifle I trust the most is my .223, I’ve had it for years. For that kind of shooting, it’s what I use.

    Nice shooting Dave.
Naaaah don't, if you really believe your .243 has suddenly been made redundant - rebarrel with the same twist as the Cm's - bigger case always goes faster with the same projectile. And if you did go 6mil CM, you gain what exactly? Driving the 95 Berger at 3050 in my .243 and it kills stuff dead fast, no need to re invent the wheel.

Fair enough. I just thought the rifle you'd trust the most would be the larger one.

No you are right, the 243 is fine as it is, have the 95 SST going at 2950 fps and grouping .5 to an inch depending on my shooting. If I want more power I have a few to choose from. The 6 CM certainly shoots well though.

Everything I’ve pointed it at inside 500m is dead @Mooseman. I think it’s a very precise and surprisingly staunch cartridge/twist/bullet combination, the hit sound is coming back to me way louder than anything I’ve used for ages. SMACK.

I’ve got some more video of 400ish goats but the card reader shat itself last night and I can’t get the video off the camera. Spent the afternoon observing dozens of reds and fallow (and goats) in a hard to reach spot, recovery wise, am quite keen to shoot another fat red with this rifle.

The logic makes sense, but fallow-to-order are all head shot here, mandatory, and that’s the job of my surgical .223 Rem.

I understand completely what you saying about the .223 for surgical precision...after some 22 years using mine it has become like a best most trusted mate.... the .270 Ive owned longer and each has its place...but if I had to hit say a clay target at 200yards.the .223 would get the nod,the big gun is just as accurate BUT the .223 is trusted more....

Last evening on the hill tonight. Picked a fat as red hind from the crowd, and dropped her good and proper. The deer had the last laugh though, rolling way the hell off down the hill as I swapped sides for the back straps and rump. Damn this country is steep. Would have been nice if it had ended up down there in the first place...

Watched a beaut stag this arvo, truly a stunning animal, best I’ve seen for a good while. Would have thought about a shot on a different day but wasn’t the plan, didn’t have the daylight, the tools or the inclination....
