    Age that stag

This stag came in last night for skull cleaning. It's been living on private and the hunter had put a bullet through its neck 2 years ago but didn't knock it over, to double make sure it was the same stag he found a knotted narly scar where the bullet had passed through.

Thoughts on its age, teeth worn down well, gap on both sides of lower jaw, missing front teeth and the eye teeth had both completely worn away to nothing.

He'd be ancient! Have to be 12yrs or more. Are his antlers showing signs of regression?

Yes I'll get a photo of the antlers once it comes out of bleach. Basically a huge 6 pointer with nodules things on the tops where the royals should be. Been a 6 pointer all it's life by the seams of it. (To quote this hunter who has farmed deer all his life) a 6 pointer will always be a 6 pointer, and now all it's offspring are 6 pointers too.

As a farmer I've learned that the bull stamps his progeny , there's always exceptions tho.
