The wx is packing up here tonight so I left work early yesterday and hoofed it up the hill before the rain starts. I found some deer in the tussock feeding in and around the bush edge. The wind was fickle so I wasted no time getting as close as possible. I picked out a young hind. She was standing looking straight at me. Another deer barked a warning so with that she got plugged straight in the chest at about 50 m. I saw her run in two small circles before dropping down dead. I counted 7 deer running after the shot and possibly could have had another if I could have been bothered.
On closer inspection I hit her right between the front legs at the base of the neck. The vitals were just mush. I butchered her and contemplating just walking home. I didn’t. Stayed the night until the sandflies got me up this am.
@Tikka7mm08 the sleeping mat was mint 👍
