Yes and no.
With hindsight and a bit more planning, semi retirement should have kicked in around 55 years old. I will receive the Pension next year, and the body is proving to be just a tad too rooted to enjoy doing all those neat things we did 'back in the day'.
It came into sharp focus earlier this month. Went for a swim down in the lake off the inflatable. Fuck me I could not climb back in after the swim. After half a career leaping in and out of inflatables in full SCUBA and SSBA kit...to be humbled into having to get the boat to shore before climbing back in.......
Get the hard work done early. Make a plan and knock off work in plenty of time to enjoy whats left of life.
I have a mate who moved to Hamilton and built a 5 bedroomed house, just so they had rooms for the grand kids to sleep in when they came visiting.
That house had to represent at least 6-8 additional years in the workforce, when he could have stayed where they were in paradise and bought the little tykes a tent for when they came visiting...![]()
