Another couple of deer for the stumpy 284

I took my 74 year old dad and another older mate on a hunting trip over the weekend, getting them both back into hunting after long breaks for various reasons.

My stumpy 284 saw some more action, with two more deer and several goats falling to it.

Heres a short video of one of them, I had offered the shot to dad initially, but after he couldnt get steady enough and ended up breathing on the scope and fogging it up he told me i had better take the shot.

haha, yeah i hit her just behind the shoulder, in hindsight should have aimed at front of shoulder due to the slight angle.

Lung shot, drilled & hit the rock behind? I bet there was minimal meat damage. Nice

When their tail goes like a propellor like in the vid its a sign that they are dead on their feet.

I've seen delayed kills quite often with Fallow 'cos I think their little bodies don't put up much resistance to a lung shot that doesn't hit bone.

Cool shooting (and video) mate, I had a similar experience with my 264 and the 300 wsm on Sika and fallow does. Stand there wagging the tail with a WTF!? look on the face then down for the count...
