Hell yes that worked out great as I had knocked of work early to go to the dentist.

So walking up to spot X and glassing as we go I'm struggling to keep the young one quiet, I explain we hope to see an animal just around the corner and we need to stay quiet. well bugger me if we didn't get just around the corner and I'm looking far away were I used to see animals and Greg says "Deer!" And there is a hind looking straight at us only 160 yards away!
We freeze and eventually she turns and put her head back into the scrub.
Now to get mini me set up for a shot it's only 160 yards but it's a tricky steep uphill shot and we need the bipod on a pack to get enough angle.
Now the waiting game it was a dim drizzly evening and whenever the hind or it's yearling would step out for a minute he could not find them in the scope or they presented an ass on shot..... This went on for probably 5 minutes but it felt like an hour and we were starting to lose light rapidly!
Just as I was starting to think that it might not happen they both walk out and stand broadside Minime finds them in the scope and shoots the small one.
I don't see the hit as I am holding the stock to try and prevent him getting hit by the scope but I only see one runoff and it sounded like a good hit.
Which one did you aim at Greg asked the one on the right he said well it didn't react like it was hit.
I thought sounded good so we better get up there and look for blood quick!
A quick scramble up the steep face and here's a massive puddle of blood A lot happier now I know it can't be far away.
Headlamps on now to track an impressive blood trail and it's only gone 10y and piled up.
    His first public land deer.
Now I've got a new phone and I can't work out how to work the camera bloody technology.

We drag it down to some flater ground and turn it into a pack, he made it about halfway back but had a wee tumble and his toes were in the end of his boots so I carried the rest of the way.
A good test for the back that went ok thankfully because In two days time It would be a pack on my back for the first time since ruptureng a disc at L3.

Good shooting by the young fulla. Right in the boiler room.

Experience. What you get just after you needed it.
