A mate and I decided to go for a sika mission into some new country for us the, famed Clement’s mill Rd! Put a big shift in on Tuesday avo in appalling weather walking about 4 hours into an area I hoped wouldn’t get hunted as much.
Wednesday saw us head along the main ridge before dropping into an area we wanted to hunt. Heaps of sign basically no noise apart from a couple of distant hee haws first light. Bush hunted all day for no sightings or enquires to our roars. Back to camp.
New day very much the same at 5pm called it quits as were a long way from camp. Less than 1min since we went from stalking mode to boost back mode saw this guy thrashing some crown fern 40m away he heard me work the bolt but was unsure and walked foward 10m and offered a front on shot which I took. Very surprised and happy with the result a rangy big 9, 30” on his short side and heaps of character!
