Hey folks.I finally brought some venny home after three days in the Ruahines between milkings.
Up at 0340 at work by 0420
Home for a feed,coffee.
Then hit the Ruahines before the Easter madness...on my day three of listening to the Reds Roar!
On the climb up my chosen Ridge I met another fella coming down,I was the fourth vehicle at the road end.We had a chat and he said your on the wrong ridge they were roaring everywhere but the ridge I was climbing. The fella had an app on his phone and a speaker on his pack he pressed it and the Red Roaring stag let wrip! Sounded pretty cool!
Any continued climbing to the higher points of the ridge didn't have time to cross the valleys to where I could hear the roarings come from as had to be back on farm at 1430hrs.
First sound of a solid movement came from in here.
Few branches crashed and silence.
Continued climbing and looked over the creek to the sound of Roaring.
Few more noises in the bush were heard heavier than bird life so glanced in.
Eye contact and let 7mm08 standing unsupported shot do the buisness.
Had a feed before doing the dirty work.
Close contact shot was fired from the clearing above.
A few natives inspected the seen
A suck on the H20 before it went on my back.
I'm only 56 kg so the 2 hour haul back down was a bloody good effort
Happy chappy glad to see the back of the ute!
