Went for an over night hunt Sat arvo , got to my camping spot set up my tent ,collected some water and had enough time to check out some nearby slips, seen a hind and yearling at just under 300yds right on dark but didn't want to shoot the hind in case she had a fawn at foot and the yearling was always just behind a bush or facing the wrong way,
Next morning went back for another look on the slip but nothing seen so went for a bush hunt on my way back to my camp, after about 3 hrs with no encounters i was only 5 mins from my camp and had given up any hope seeing a deer when i bumped a family group of hinds and yearlings ,managed to pick out a yearling and so went home with some nice venison after all.
Using a 7mm rem mag 175gr bullet to shoot a yearling at 20 paces is a little bit overkill (pun intended)but certainly did the job. Cheers
