Boys first deer

Just back from 3 nights away. Had a good trip. Over 40 deer seen and three shot. Charlie has been desperate to shoot his first. To his credit he was adamant it had to be on doc land and not a farm deer. He’s accompanied me a lot over the last two years and really got the bug. He’s only 9 but walks the miles. We did 55 km over the last three days. Doesn’t mind cooking on fires and living rough. So the opportunity arose. We had the .223 and he pulled off a great shot. 280 yds and poked a 69gn tmk right behind the shoulder. The stag took three steps , sat down then was legs in the air kicking.
I suspect I may not get to shoot too many more from here on in :cool:
