    Bushstalking those Fallow

Sneeze and I headed away for an overnighter expecting to get onto the rutting Fallow.

Sneeze saw one off the edge of the track that was watching me walk by, it gapped it pretty quick upon seeing (or smelling) Sneeze.

We bushstalked the afternoon keeping in track with the Rino650s. A couple of hours later I was a bit dejected at the lack of rut activity. No scrapes around.

Walked onto a doe and yearly foraging and knocked the doe over. Sneeze walked in to my position using the Rino- bloody handy

Bushstalked the next day with Sneeze putting one up under his nose and me spooking another with my clumsiness.

Just a note on the second pic, while Steve338 can be a bit of a poser, in this instance he was just adjusting his NZHS beanie trying in vain to make himself more presentable when the shutter caught him.

    G'Day Fella's,

    Well done Steve 338!

Not long back myself, from an overnighter up at Toofa's place, looking for some sport.
I was up there with a mate of mine (Dave) and his 10yo son, Andrew.
Saturday evening, Dave and Andrew spotted a pure white Fallow doe in the slightly open bush and were able to stalk in to around 100 meters.
Andrew then got prone, lined up the doe with his Dads .223Rem and shot it thru the chest!
The animal only went 2 foot after the shot and that was All Down!

This was Andrews first Deer and we were all very pleased with his shooting and success!

By the way, Dave loads and shoots Sierra 69grain BTMK thru the 1 in 9" twist .223 barrel.
The only recoverable meat, was the hind legs and back steaks as both front shoulders were a real mess!
That .223 Sierra bullet combo do a great job!

    Doh!

My secret possi of the herd my father released 20+ years ago(Nelson) were croaking there arses off beginning of April and finished by mid April. Where they would "normally" be last week of April to second week of may.
Real early rut here in Nelson both Red and Fallow.
    2 cents.
