    Cheeky little bastard

I had an amazing experience last night while we were round at our son's babysitting. About 9pm, their rather dumb British Blue cat rips in the catdoor looking shit scared. He was staring at the catdoor and I assumed another tomcat had been after him. I jumped up and went to their deck door and didn't immediately see anything but on looking down, here was a ferret with his nose pressed against the acrylic of the catdoor. Looked exactly the colouring of this one I immediately found in a Google search.

I didn't think ferrets could be that brazen but clearly they are. I'll have to dig out my ferret cage trap and set that round there. There are heaps of rabbits in the adjacent orchards so I guess it's an attractive place to live.

I have seen 3 in my last 4 trips out hunting, either ferret or stoat. One was white, one was a similar colour to yours and a black one.

What do you put in your cage for bait?

A leg hold trap inside a piece of pipe placed on a 'run' works a treat esp along the side of a creek. Tie two strings to the trap so that the trap can be tied in the centre and cant be pulled out and played with by a dog. Place a hens egg in the pipe. Use salted rabbit in a cage trap

Iv seen a rabbit squealing under a tussock and the ferret was tracking him about a 100yds away. The rabbit knew he was being chased. We got to the rabbit first,it was nearly dead, dieing of shock.By then the ferret was only about 10 yds away and it wasnt stopping. We walked away and let nature take its coarse.

A gumboot is equally as good for terminating them as a 4x2 also.
Iv heard, if you are quick you can grab their tail and lift them by it.
This procedure puts them off balance and they go limp for a few seconds. Just long enough to grab their neck and wring it.

Works a treat. Probably the best and most popular way to dispatch them.

I don't like cats. But there is the odd exception.

Is that like a possum? If you lift the back end of the ground they can't do much but make sure those front feet stay on the ground or they climb back up their body, tail, your arm then face (great fun to watch though)

Can't say I fancy having them sink their teeth into me..
Academic anyway coz it wasn't reachable.

I remember chasing a couple of rough, tough workmates around the yard one day with a big bastard by the tail, that I fluked to stomp on. They weren't having a bar of it and run away squealing like pig suckers!
I laughed like fuck at the pussys! Soon changed my mind after sniffing my fingers. Talk about retch and gag, fuck that! Never again.
The stench was next level gross out.
    Ya can't park there mate.

I had one attached very firmly to my left thumb many years ago. The only thing that made him let go was sticking his nose under a running hose ...and that was a tame one
