Deer stalk brings home the bacon

Hi, Havnt posted in quite awhile.
Havnt been out much, running the South Island land based game page on facebook his taken up my time plus done a heap of fishing.
Freezer was running low on the meat department so on the weekend went for a look for a deer.

Took the 223 and went to a handy spot not that far from home.
Not much deer sign around but soon saw fresh pig sign. Happened to walk around a bush and standing 12 feet away staring right at me was a boar still in its rooting.

Put the rifle up to shoot it and nothing happened...the safety was still on.
Click it off and the boar charged and quickly fired off and a direct hit with the 55gr softnose. the boar landed 5 feet from me dead as.

Bit of excitement for a deer stalk...good to be back in the action.

Nah, just use Fed powershok 55 gr softnose.. Taken a couple of deer and a big spiker with them, seem good.
Normally use my 243 with 100gr which are awesome but sometimes take the 308 also, thts with fed 165gr

That for me and my wife, is a month meat supply. It `s good to bbq the rib, and making smoked or aged sausages. yeah I know you guys do `t eat those guts, even I do `t eat that much that often because it really take times to prepare it and cook it.
