    Downhill shooting

Back in October, I visited a new area about 90 minutes from Christchurch. A solid 70-minute climb and a bit of a sidle lead to some nice country that receives a fair amount of pressure.
It was a great evening, with little wind and relatively warm temperatures. Glassing a bush edge, 4 deer appeared, feeding adjacent to some manuka and around 250m away.
They were in no hurry and seemed to be enjoying the new growth so I had ample time to load up and get settled for a shot at a nice young hind, which was quite a bit lower than my shooting position. Anyway, one tidy shot with the 7mm08, a loud 'thwack' filled me with confidence. 10 minutes later and a bit of following a blood trail led to this. Very happy and looking forward to returning for another opportunity in the next fortnight.

    Well done.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.

if thats the spot I'm thinking of near oxford, a fair bit of pressure is an understatement! good on you for getting something, they tend to be a bit wily there, beautiful country though. get a reasonable number of pigs sometimes too.
