Another tip would be to resize the photos to ~300kb, they'll look fine and won't suck up the data on the mobile. At the moment they are probably at close to full size (4-5mb).

Good stuff @footsore. I have done a few trips like that with my 12 year old son over the last couple of years. Need to get out again soon before the winter.
