    A few days Bush

Just got pit of the bush. Went in on Saturday. My boy managed his first solo Deer. Up "Deer Creek". It was 30 minutes from sunset so I suggested Oliver go for a look up Deer Creek. Sure enough there
we3 a couple of Deer on the first clearing. Never seen a Deer on there myself.
I heard the shot from camp and went to take a pic and give him a hand.

It's only 15 minutes to camp so he carried it whole and shirtless to save a bit of washing.

He's stronger than me now. .
Next Day we went off in search of a stag.
One guy sounded promising. We headed off in his direction but when we got close he shut up. We carried on only for him to start back up again once we were on the next Spur. Oliver thought we should go back. The wind was a bit swirly but we made a plan and haded back. Fortunately for us he kept on Roaring. We got closer and closer and the wind stayed good. Eventually I stipped roaring as he was going to town. We would sneak forward while he roared then stop and try to catch a glimpse of him. It got to the point where he was so close I couldn't believe I wasn't seeing him. Finally I saw his antlers then his head and right shoulder between two pungas. Oliver said at that moment he felt the wind on out back. As soon as the dot was on his shoulder I squeezed off. He turned and ran a short distance and then dropped. The dog was pretty good. She stayed right in close even with a roaring stag 30 metres from her. She was probably terrified. We had a lazy day in camp the next day and then a 3.5 hour grunt back to the truck. A great start to the holidays.
