A few stories of some of my adventures

How's it going I was told I should post a bit of write up so here goes hope it makes sense.
The first is of my first pig I shot stalking with no dogs I was hunting up Canterbury I had not long finished work (possuming) when I caught I with the cockie who's farm I was working we were having a bit of a chat when I thought I'd be cheeky and ask if I could go after a pig as I had been seeing a few (mostly sows with suckers) he was more than happy so with a big thank and a promise of some paua. I went home and gathered my gear I arrived just on 5 pm and headed for a gully I had poisoned a couple weeks ago I wasn't walking more than 15 minutes when a noise caught my attention I got down at knee level to look through the tightish scrub to have a boar not 30 meters away feeding happily I closed my bolt and as I did so the pig started to turn I held of till he stopped and fired the boom of the 308 left me ears ringing the pig slumped over and was dead before he heard the bang.Name: image.jpg

Next is my first fallow deer
I had seen this deer a couple times when goat hunting and never managed to get a shot off at him until one day I was looking for a couple stinkys It was a bloody hot day as I walked my way along a creek I hadn't seen any goats and was about ready to head home for the day when I spied what I thought was a brown goat I sat and watched to realise that was my target a fallow stag just. Spiker but meat none the less he was a wee way off about 120 meters give or take and having just a 223 I told my self head shot or neck shot or don't fire at all I got a steady rest tryed to calm my breathing as best I could and settled my cross hairs slightly above his eyes I squeezed off and heard the confirming THUD as he slumped right there and then excitedly I rushed over to find a big pool of blood and a bit if brain matter close to the deer confirming my shot was were I intended I was over the moon so after the guts was whipped out I begun the hard part the carry out well 2 1/2 hours later I reached my vehicle and was not sad to be out the bush after hanging the deer for a couple days I cut it up and the layer of fat was inches thick ! What a great eating animal and being a head shot no wastage what so ever!Name: image.jpg
