Hey Mac,
Thanks for the feedback!
Yeah, I am still learning but becoming a bit more fluent with the editing software so it doesn't take as long to produce the video.
I am always open to feedback... probably due to mellowing as I get older!
Sometimes the camera is on a wooden deck an so it picks up EVERY vibration which is a shame as it ruins the chance to see the vapour trail but I'm pretty happy with the quality so far.
Doc Watson gave me his old camera so I could start making videos. He also offers plenty of real world advice that I can understand.
I have looked through (but not had time to use) the Vortex PST Gen 2 5-25x50 and I would say the glass is comparable but the Vortex gets the slight edge but I need more time with Double Shot to truly compare.
The Vortex does have superior feel on the turret clicks though. The Athlon suffers from a little mushy feel, although they line up superbly and you can set the zero stop easily.
It is quite light sensitive so requires a sunshade.
Price wise its pretty good for $850 USD with the features.
I should also add that I had an older Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x50 that had slightly clearer glass in comparable power ranges. The turrets were much better and the 22 power offered clean, clear eye box that didn't really change. It cost $2000 USD new.
I'm pretty happy with it's accuracy and usability. There is no comparison between this and the Sightron S-Tac or Bushnell X30 I had.
The glass has better contrast and colour than the Sightron SIII I had, but the Sightron had a less sensitive eye box on full mag and came with a sunshade.
I would have gone with Sightron, but the extra power, Zero stop, FFP and L+R marked windage along with illuminated reticle had me sold.
I would love to look through a Cronus BTR as they seem to be excellent value for $1550 USD.
