On this trip, day 1 walked ~3 hours in, about 6-8km and maybe 400vertical, pretty cruisy, just looking around. Day 2, 15 hours on the hill, climbed 1500+ vertical, hard to say how many km, deep snow made it hard going, saw over 100 animals in the day. Day 3, a few hours out with heavy packs, all downhill. Mine was ~36kg, my mates was 47.5kg with the skin and head... should have carried a bit of it for him....Quote:

I don't claim to be an expert. Just be fitter than you think you need to be and cover the country, with the binos and the legs. Who knows what tahr hunting will look like next year?
