Finally first blood for the 28 Nosler

After a couple of false starts, and not getting the chance of pulling the trigger on an animal with the 28, I finally got the opportunity on Friday night, the first night of a 3 day private land trip with the inlaws.

With the knee still pretty weak after dislocating my knee cap only 4 weeks ago, being able to cover ground on the iron horse was a very welcome way to hunt.

Still had to climb some hills to recover the animals tho but the knee coped reasonably well.

It was hardly a real test for the 28 but at least I know the 195gr Berger holds up at that higher impact velocity.

Good to see you managed to get out, the 28 seemed to do the trick. Look after that knee.

Nice shot, 195gr seems to do the trick. What velocity are you launching them at?

Nice one, impressed you managed to recover the pill , at that range I thought it would still be going

3075 fps, had them 100 fps faster in load development but I think 3075 is more than enough 😉

You can see him crash to the ground just as he gets to the edge of the screen, he didnt go any further. Yeah I reckon it performed pretty well for the impact speed, it's lost some weight but sure seemed to do the job

With the high impact velocity I'd expect it to expand alot and shed some weight as it did.

I'd imagine the bullet will be more likely to exit at greater distances with lower impact velocity and less explosion expansion.

Great outcome. I was worried that I was going to have to buy that rifle. 😀

Look forward to seeing it take a nice Sika stag at a longer range.
