Finally got me my first solo deer

So today was a big first for me. After 3 years of hunting I finally got my first solo deer. No one else with me to help spot them or shoot them. Just me and my .270. I have shot deer before but always been with other people, shot goats solo, and seen a few deer while on my own but for various different reasons never taken one alone. So i climbed up a hill this morning to an area where I shot a couple of deer with a mate last year and had me a little look around. After sitting glassing for no more than 10 minutes while eating my sandwich I thought to myself wouldn't it be nice if there was a mob of deer down where we shot them before. Well fuck me sideways, walked round a rock and looked down and spotted a mob of 6 fallow on a lovely open patch between a load of scrub. I was up above them only about 120m away and they had no idea. Slowly i got down on the rock in front of me and got the rifle all set up and waited. They were feeding and moving but going nowhere in a hurry, looking through the scope i saw 5 hinds and a spiker but he quickly walked behind a bush out of sight. I lined up on the hind in the middle of the grass but she decided to walked straight into the bush on the other side. I lined up on another one, told myself to keep calm and slowly squeezed the trigger. Boom, down she went. I chucked another round up the spout ready just in case it decided to get up and move. It didn't and neither did any of the other 4 in the mob. I lined another one up and pulled the trigger. Boom, another one. I was over the moon and still 3 just stood there. And stood there, and stood there. They stood there for so long I had time to get my phone out and take some photos, and even ring my hunting buddy and tell him the good news at 9am on a sunday. Bloody hell i was tempted with a 3rd but thought better of it, it wasn't until i was halfway down the hill that the last 3 finally walked off into the scrub. So there I was 9.30 in the morning 2 deer down and my as happy as a pig in shite. I spent a fair amount of time boning them all out and i took everything. There was not a bit of meat wasted. How could i justify shooting 2 and not taking it all? Filled my pack to the brim and made my way down the hill to the truck. They sure as shit aint the biggest deer i've ever shot but of them all, probably mean the most.

    Excellent!

Well done,I still remember my first solo Deer.

In a similar way it reminds me of of first time I got laid, got the shot off just as quick then too.Sadly.

Top job on your first solo deer, you have broken the ice now so you won't be looking back now. Nice bit of meat as well.

Good job btw! I have only just started to enjoy hunting by myself for small game. A solo deer hunt would be a first for me but keen to give it a try.
