    First goats.

I went out the coast yesterday with my bow. We got there about 12. We waited for the land owner for about 30 mins. And we could see goats below us.

The owner finally turned up. I was itching to get hunting for a goat. We got to the hut and i put my bags away and set my bow up.

I set off to where we saw the goats but the were gone. So i went up towards the pine forest. Before i got there i heard a goat quite close to where i was then saw it behind a big manuka bush. So i stalked him and i got about 7-8 m away. I nocked an arrow and drawed my bow. And waited for him to turn side on. Finally he did so i placed my shot a bit to far behind the shoulder. He ran of with blood pouring out.

I waited about 20mins before i set off. There was a heavy blood trail and then it stopped and i couldn't find any more blood. Finally i picked up more blood and followed it. I found my arrow snapped on the track. I saw a big spill of blood and there was my first goat with my bow. I didn't know how to gut it but i tried and did a ruff job.

I took it back to the hut and hung it up.

After that me and Dennis went up threw some pines for a look. There was a group of goats. I snuck up and had a shot at a young one less than 7 m away. And i missed!!! Then boom boom boom. Dennis hit a goat we followed the blood trail. Then he went back to the track. Then i heard more shots.

I got up to him and he shot a billy with a nice sized head. He said "the bloody thing charged at me!"

The next day i woke up and followed a creek up and saw a lot of goat and deer sign. But couldn't find them. I came back to the hut and had lunch. Then went out with the .22 Mag and got a nice young goat for the pot.

I bought it back and a big boar was up at the hut. Dennis says " Don't shoot it!" It was tamed.

After lunch we packed up and went home. We got back and i hung the goats up.

Later on i skinned the big goat because I'm going to make a mat out of it.

It was an awesome couple days.
