    First hunt 2020

Yesterday morning I said to my wife "you know darling, I haven't been hunting all year", to which she retorted "but you went hunting on boxing day!".
"Yes, but that was last year said I"...

Modern mode of transport, but still hard yards to be done.

Nice encounter with a piggy family.

Young hind last night. About 120 yards and making a get away. 300saum and a 168 NBT put a stop to that. I was fortunate I had time to get prone and solid into the bi-pod.

Young stag this morning at 6am. He got the same medicine at about the same distance but this time standing leaning against a tree (both deer were centre of the shoulder hits...it won't last ).

    Tilly still crook ?
He nui to ngaromanga, he iti to putanga.

You depart with mighty boasts, but you come back having done little.
Sounds like a typical hunting trip !

@Frogfeatures Im just easing her back into it. She's 11 soon and the dislocated hip has really aged her. Probably only use her on day trips going forward.

    I really miss her company.

I must be getting soft. There was a sow and her piglets and a nice fat porker all in the group. They were about 10 yards away in the scrub and I cocked my rifle to shoot the porker and then got the guilts about breaking up the family group. Soon after they winded me and bolted, I saw the piglets disperse like a mob of blow flies. 20 minutes later I shot a deer and while dealing to that I heard oinking and those 2 little piglets came right up to me (no doubt looking for their Mum). They came to about 10 yards and then ran off. Ive got a little video of them.

Yeah, a bugger about Tilly. I will get a bit more out of her but I didn't want her jumping up and down off the quad or running behind it if I got a big load of meat plus my gear (which I did).
