I was talking to a mate of mine the other day and we decided we should go for a fish between Xmas and the New Year. Plan all sorted gear loaded and off up Hawkes Bay we go,meet KiwiJames at Taradale and bought a Swanni off him. With a stop at the supermarket and another for bait we arrivied at the beach an hour or so later. My mate said to throw in the Bow as there are a few goats to chase around some of the bluffs. Cruising down the beach we spyed a couple of goats and I snuck in and a miss and a hit later I had my first goat with a Bow, pretty happy
The fishing was rubbish with a heap of speices caught but all nothing for the chilly. Nothing for it but to go and chase more goats, I hit another one but to far foward in the chest and lost it in all the scrub. Woke up this morning and after catching another little Tope thought bugger this chase more goats (Think I've caught the Bow hunting bug) sneaking in on a small mob I got busted and they took off, a group of 4 ran into the next small gut and I snuck in only to get caught in some Blackberry and the buggers saw me as I tryed to get out and around it. I watched as they ran off only to stop 200 yards away, next plan was to get above them and see if I can get a shot. Sneaking in and I see 1 of them trying to work out where I had gone and I was above them and nek miniute I see 1 walking out of the scrub, Bow up full draw and a beautifull whack as the arrow goes in just behind the shoulder.
I did manage to catch a nice Gurnard so tea is sorted.
