Fun times with family and friends out filling the freezers with fat veni's

Had a great weekend away hunting with family and friends, lots of protein havested to top up everyones freezers ready for the summer BBQs, and some awesome bonding time with my father in law.

Me and the father in law each shot a couple of deer as did most of the crew.

I gave my Model 7 7mm SAUM an outing this trip and managed two stags at 422 and 546 yards, still running the good old 162gr Amax's which sure put the hurt on them (see pic of carcass with shoulder removed - big stag shot at 546 yds)

My father in law has recently chambered his first barrel, a heavy ex target 308 barrel, he ran a 300 win mag reamer up it and cut a new tenon to fit a T3 action. He finished the barrel at 30".

Its producing 300 Rum performance driving a 208 eldm at 3100 fps from 77 gr of powder. It hits em pretty hard.

His 2nd deer for the trip he shot at 744 yards, hit it slightly rearward of ideal but it still expired pretty fast.

Hes extremerly happy with how his DIY long barreled 300WM is going.

All in all another great trip away with the lads doing what we all love.

I captured a bit of video footage so will edit that up and add when its done.

    Fine shootin', good eatin'.
We weren't able to drive the quad right to any of ours but could get it to the ridge above them or down below them etc and recover from there, some recoveries bigger than others but that's all part of the fun eh.

Great weekend with family, superb looking country. Good to see the SAUM getting a work out & the good ol AMAX's doing their job.
