    Grandads 303

Ive had my Grandads old 303 for a few years now and it hasn't been out of the cabinet for a while. The last time was a few years ago when I shot a deer in the Ruahine bush with it. Ive had the itch for a bush hunt lately and decided it was a great chance to take it for another walk. I ended up having a choice little hunt, adding another tail to the old rifles tally. I can only imagine if these old rifles could talk it would be somewhat humbling to hear the stories and lives they have accumulated. Link below is the full video of my hunt.

Nice one. Must take a open sights out again one day. Shot loads of goats with a open sight 303 and some with a 308.

well it worked...new pup has hard case look on face almost "what you talkin bout Willus?"

great video as always....agree 100% about the bush stalking bit......its why Im a bush hobbit...that itch just never goes away for me.
for you young fellas, take note of how rifle is carried...THAT IS WHY us old farts still go semi open bolt...it was THE WAY you hunted with SMLE it was the only safe way to carry rifle ,the safeties were dodgy at best...and the habit /technique sticks.

the two screws in rear charger bit...SCREAM out for an aperture sight...pretty sure...nah Im POSITIVE a cleaver chap like yourself could simply fold a small piece of say 2mm sheet over and drill two holes for the screws to secure it...then look backwards from muzzle through opens to work out height for eye aperture....then drill and slim off excess...... just something to do on wet day that MAY even make old gal easier to line up.

Using some old Highland 150gr soft points, only 7 left so I will need to track down more ammo!

    Great stuff.
I'm itching to do an old school iron sights hunt with my smelly sporter.
I might have to wear my driving glasses though now!

Great hunt with a time proven caliber. Looks to be in great condition that rifle, it sure can still the business. Open sights are a bit hard for me these days.
