Most likely just as wet here & getting sick of it too.Would of been great if had this weather for duck shooting.
Dog still got a walk this evening & retrieved a rabbit but an hour out in this weather was plenty.
Wouldn't want Mr Dundee job at the moment .

We will probably put it to a vote PT, Id say most everyone will get something.
So the young fella has been wandering around behind the boys pheasant hunting or helping call ducks in the maimai for about 4 or 5 years now ... he's been told he can shoot Opening in the swamp next season so I decided he needed his own shottie for his 10th birthday. A quick call to Reloaders had a 16g single shot on hold and off we went to pick it up. He tried it, decided it fitted and off we went. He spent hours practising opening it, closing it, mounting it and generally getting familiar with it that night.
Then off down for a pheasant hunt that weekend. We tried to put him in some areas where he could stand (with me behind and supervising) and have birds come out in front of him and that's what happened. First bird and the little bugger had the gun closed, up, mounted, safety off, swung and fired before I could say "There's one".
That happened 3 or 4 times during the morning and even though he was a bit behind them, I was bloody impressed. As long as he takes a few years to learn to outshoot his old man I'll be happy :XD:

Not yet Leathel, only had the thing a week or so! We'll do clays after birds finish in 2 weeks.

Not hunting but what we do as I've got girls is tramp as a family xmas holidays and they have really brought into the challenge of the outdoors

I went to check how dry it is to take the kids after a possum or two down the flats on Robs place..... Tractor running with the pto pump 24/7 isn't a good look so might have to take Michael down hunting Karp instead as there was plenty of them on the flats in about .5-1mtr of water between the stock bank and the area we want to go closer to the river where the willows and bush is.... So possums are out for a bit yet.
Still have plans for a fortnight to get Rose out after goats, pigs and turkeys if the weather plays ball then another hunt tied in with the Sika show weekend :)

Well what a weekend… Rain hail and shine …oh wait it didn’t shine…but we did have enough wind to have some spare for the fullars up north that seem to want some. Didn’t make a difference we were going hunting, Pigs the target. Turkey and Hare’s were also on the list but they have been left for another day
We drove some of the way in the pouring rain (I got the short straw and rode the bike)

The plan was to get in a good vantage point and wait, 2 hours of hunkering down with horizontal rain driving against my back as I sheltered my daughter as best as I could and I was starting to wonder if the shitty conditions were going to keep the pigs in the bush… But the man with the knowledge of the area spied some movement… a group of pigs head our way :D
Shit they might come right to us but no they darted off but with the wind in our face we just followed until all could get setup and with a flurry of shots we had pigs on the ground …. And my kids new Marlin .223 blooded 5 days after getting it :P
Down to the pigs, quick gut and a pose for photos then load the kids up for the walk back to the vehicles, big smiles on their dials

Now I should have had it on earlier for a longer slower cook but it was stil very very nice... The Tee Tree log smoked nicely and with the brushed on coating it was bloody mint :D
OK, I am salivating now. Damn that looks good.
There should be rules against posting photos of food bang on lunch time , my lunch is going to taste pretty average now , rushes right dam that looks good !
