    Guttin a pig with scissors

Was flicking through some old photos and found this one

This back in about 2002 in the Marlborough back country. I spied this boar way down below me, so quickly dropped down until I felt I was close enough. No rangefinders then so no idea of the range. Dropped it with one shot of the .222 Sako vixen. Hit it in the neck from memory

When I got down to it I discovered I had left my knife behind. The only thing I had was a small pair of scissors in my first aid kit. Luckily they were pointy and sharp, and did an ok job.

The pig was bloody heavy and it was a long way back up to the truck. Luckily my mate came along eventually and I was able to cut the head off with his knife. Made the carry a lot easier after that.
