Decided to take the 222 for its first walk, deer like the sun which shines on their patch about 2pm to 4pm.Arrived at my spot, minus 3 degrees and hoar frost fog down to about 2 mtrs above ground level.Lots of matagari spaced apart, good for walking thru.Could only see about 30 to 50 yrds around me.Walked quietly for about 10 minuts, started to see fresh prints, maybe 2 deer. Then came across a big pile of fallow poop, steam was rising off it.Woow fresh as.Theres was a few trees ahead. So quietly walked behind the matagari bushs watching the trees.Stopped and watched a bit then a stick broke, loud crack, thumb, thumb, thumb, then a fallow spiker broke cover for about 2 seconds between trees n bush.No time for a shot, but theres next time.
Only photo I got was his left overs, lols. But it was exciting knowing they are ghosting amongst the hoar frost for winter hunting.
